Thank you for visting the home page of Fleetwood R.N.L.I.
2021 sees Fleetwood lifeboat station celebrate 162 years of lifesaving by the volunteer lifeboat crew members. The lifeboat station has been at the heart of the town since 1859. There have been seven different lifeboat stations, sighted in various places, but all near the present station opposite the North Euston Hotel. The current building, shared with HM Coastguard, was opened in 2006.
The volunteer lifeboat crews, all trained by the RNLI, have been willing to drop whatever they were doing, when required, to help save lives in Morecambe Bay and even further out into the Irish sea. Fleetwood RNLI lifeboat was heavily involved with the Riverdance incident in January 2008.
In 2015, Fleetwood lifeboat station was the busiest RNLI station in the north of England, launching 86 times and saving 32 lives.
The RNLI relies entirely on donations from the public and their generosity enables over 300 lifeboat stations to operate around our shores. In 2018, it cost over £160 million, to keep our coastlines safe.
The station now operates 2 lifeboats, an in-shore D-class lifeboat, D-853 Harbet & an all-weather Shannon class lifeboat, RNLB Kenneth James Pierpoint.
At Fleetwood RNLI, our volunteers and staff strive to be the best to ensure the safety of people at sea. However, in response to the current guidance, aimed at slowing the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and to ensure the crew and volunteers remain effective, we are kindly asking visitors and non-essential personnel, to refrain from attending the lifeboat station.
We would like to thank everyone within the Fleetwood and Wyre community for their continued support, but unfortunately, until further notice, we will be unable to offer tours and will need to cancel tours already booked, in a bid to limit the spread of Coronavirus.
We will continue to keep you updated and we hope you understand the health, safety and wellbeing of our volunteer crew is a priority to ensure we can continue to save lives at sea.
We would like to assure you that Fleetwood RNLI will continue to save lives at sea, 24/7, 365 days a year, when required.
